# Announcing PostSharp 6.9: Visual Studio Tooling performance improvements

> PostSharp 6.9 is now available with significant performance improvements in the Visual Studio extension, following a comprehensive review of VSX code.

Just 2 weeks after releasing PostSharp 6.9 RC, we are excited to announce the general availability of PostSharp 6.9. This version is available for [download](https://www.postsharp.net/download) on our website.

In this release, the performance of the Visual Studio extension has significantly improved. We have performed a complete review of our VSX code against modern performance best practices and removed all code that was initially written for VS 2015 and older. 

If you have installed PostSharp Tools for Visual Studio, you may have to [download](https://www.postsharp.net/download) the new release and give it another try.
